President of Ireland Mary McAleese launched a new Bord Bia initiative in Spain in March, designed to boost the image and reputation of Irish food in the Spanish market.
Export sales approach €8 billion
Irish food and drink was a major contributor to the economy's strong export performance in 2010, with export sales expanding by 11 per cent to reach €7.9 billion, according to Bord Bia.
Reform of Common Fisheries Policy
Simon Coveney TD, Minister for Agriculture, Marine and Food, held a bilateral meeting with Minister Rosa Aguilar, Minister of Environment, Rural and Maritime Affairs in Madrid in March to discuss the planned reform of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) and to identify areas of mutual interest.
