It was a sweet start to the year for The Wild Geese Irish Honey Liqueur, winning the top prize in the Liqueur category at the 2021 Concours International Top Spirit Awards in January. This prestigious competition is judged by an independent panel of over 60 leading spirit experts in a blind taste test on criteria including nose, colour, taste and price. Judging across all categories took 70 hours of tasting, with over 325 spirits from all over the world competing.

Introduced in 2013, the liqueur is made using a blend of premium Irish whiskey and honey from Tipperary and Kilkenny. The secret recipe, they tell us, is inspired by St Gobnait, Ireland’s patron saint of beekeepers. This recent accolade is the latest in a series of awards, among them a gold medal for Best Irish Whiskey Liqueur at the World Liqueur Awards in 2019, gold at the Irish Whiskey Awards in 2015 and a silver medal at the International Spirit and Wine Competition in 2015.

Andre Levy, chairman of The Wild Geese producer Protégé International said: “We are incredibly proud to have won the gold medal in the Top Spirit 2021 Awards for The Wild Geese Irish Honey Liqueur. To have been selected for this prize under the current challenging conditions, beating off bigger competitive brands, is a major achievement. The award reinforces the quality of our products, which have been recognised around the world by almost 70 prestigious international awards.”

Other products in The Wild Geese’s award-winning range include Untamed Irish Whiskeys, The Wild Geese Premium Rum and The Exiles Irish Gin. The liqueur can be found across the EU and is distributed by Protégé International.
